Fayence is situated 50 minutes West of Nice in the foothills to the Alps. It is the largest of 5 hilltop Roman villages on a ridge (the others are Seillans, Tourettes, Callian and Montauroux) - each village has one or more market days - in Fayence it is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The area is famous for its Rosé and there are many wineries where you can drop in and taste.

15 minutes away is Lac de St Casien which provides great swimming and fishing

There are a number of beaches within 45 - 60 minutes drive ranging from the chic Cannes to the more family oriented Agay

St Tropez is about an hour away (given an early start!) with its market, harbour, celebrities and Ramatuelle beach clubs!

Going north, the famous Verdon region (about an hour) includes spectacular scenery and all kinds of wild water and climbing activities

With pothole free and quiet roads (and considerate drivers!) the region includes some of the best cycling routes in the world - from a quiet tour of the local villages to a full-on 150k / 3000m climb marathon into the alps - the Var has it all!
